Journey to Avalon with me
Mar 16, 2025
Burnout is everywhere. With #burnout tagged over 200,000 times on TikTok, it's clear this struggle resonates with countless people—but it runs far deeper than a viral trend. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), burnout isn’t just about feeling drained; it’s a serious syndrome triggered by chronic, unmanaged stress. It manifests as profound exhaustion, a growing sense of detachment or cynicism, and a sharp decline in performance. And while it may feel like a personal struggle, burnout is often a reflection of deeper, systemic pressures that many of us face.
I’ve felt the weight of burnout firsthand. Between the pressures of running a growing business, the mental load of motherhood, and trying to navigate within a value system that sometimes feels at odds with my own, 2024 became my tipping point. I knew I needed to find space—to reconnect with something deeper. That’s how I ended up in Avalon, the mystical land of Glastonbury, guided by priestess Sianna Sherman. I went seeking the forgotten feminine power of Mary Magdalene, and what I found was profound.
Sianna described Avalon as a place where myth and magic pulse through the land, where ancient ley lines—dragon lines—flow, awakening the heart of humanity. Known as the Heart Chakra of the planet, this mystical land has long drawn seekers looking to reconnect with their spiritual selves.
The journey began in the Goddess Hall, a purple sanctuary dedicated to Brigid, the Celtic goddess of creativity, fertility, and love. This sacred space, located in Glastonbury's Avalon, has a palpable energy—the walls adorned with art celebrating Brigid through paint, clay, and wood carvings. We began with an invocation, including chanting, journaling, and mythical storytelling, before entering a sharing circle.
I had my assumptions about who would be attending—a psychic, a healer, and a Self professed witch were no surprise—but I found myself surrounded by women from all walks of life: a lawyer, a doctor, and even a virtual reality developer. Each one was here for the same reason—burnout, and the desire to rediscover something beyond the material rewards of their careers.
Time seemed to bend that week. There was something ancient in the way we bonded, as if we had known each other for lifetimes. Women in their 60s, women in their 30s, from Africa to America, all gathered under one sacred roof. Titles and backgrounds fell away, leaving us as old friends. Our discussions moved beyond the superficial, delving into purpose, life, and how we might dismantle the patriarchy to reclaim the power that is ours by right.
It’s hard to believe it was still day one when I stripped off my clothes and, alongside these women I had only just met, submerged myself into the ice-cold waters of the White Springs. Naked, vulnerable, yet profoundly connected, we immersed ourselves in this sacred ritual of renewal. The White Springs, known for their healing powers, carry with them centuries of spiritual tradition—a place where the veil between the material and mystical is said to be thin. The week unfolded with storytelling, dance, singing, sound healing, and ancestral callings. We celebrated women of the past, the future, and ourselves. I have never felt so deeply devoted to the liberation of any group of women more than I did with these women in that room. It was alchemical. Each ritual, each moment, felt like a reconnection to the sacred feminine that modern life had buried.
Outside of the magic, I was also immersed in the rich history of Glastonbury: the Abbey, the Tor, the ancient springs. These landmarks, vibrant and alive, hold a history that seemed to pulse beneath the surface, keeping the past present. By the end of the week, most of us had shed our everyday clothing for capes, headdresses, and feathers. It felt like a shedding of the Western world—a liberation, another initiation into the fold of feminine magic. By the end of that week, we weren’t just talking about stress or burnout—we were imagining a future where we, as women, could reclaim our power, support each other in ways that defy the systems that deplete us, and walk forward not just healed, but empowered.
This was a journey like no other, where I began to reconnect with the deeper parts of myself—the parts that burnout had buried. I was fortunate to be held by a well, wise, and experienced priestess. Having previously worked with Sianna in a more yogic capacity, I felt safe undertaking such a deep and transformative journey with her. My biggest advice, if you feel called to embark on your own hero’s journey, is to be very discerning about who you choose to guide you. Like all fields, even within the realm of magic, there are those who may not have the depth or experience to support you fully and may be more focused on the financial exchange than the soul work. Find a guide who can help you navigate every layer of yourself with the wisdom and care this kind of journey demands.
Avalon, and sianna, reminded me that healing, power, and renewal are within us, waiting to be awakened. It’s a message I’m carrying with me, and one I hope inspires others to reclaim their energy and step back into their power.
